Il punto di partenza dell’SFT sarebbe il Passo del Sempione ma, essendo Antrona il punto più basso dell’itinerario, con un discreto dislivello e con un Rifugio non gestito, il trekking inizia da questa località. Siamo nel Parco della Valle Antrona in un ambiente ricco di fascino. I laghi di Antrona e Campliccioli, le conifere secolari, le aspre cime e lo spettacolo degli stambecchi sul muro della diga del Cingino rendono molto piacevole la percorrenza di questo primo tratto.
