Town Festival: Gamsen City Wall – Exploring a National Historic Landmark

guided tour
A Walk Along the Gamsen Land Wall – In the Footsteps of a National Cultural Monument.
The largest surviving “Letzi” in Switzerland, a wall that once cut through the entire Valais region near Gamsen as a dam, is one of three cultural monuments of national significance in the municipality of Brig-Glis and an imposing structure from the late Middle Ages that has by no means revealed all its secrets.
Be honest, how many of you have heard of the Landmauer? How many have actually visited it? Who knew that it is a historical structure of national significance? Who is aware that it is the largest surviving structure of its kind in Switzerland?
The Landmauer Gamsen Foundation takes you on a journey of discovery along the historic Landmauer and, during a visit to the old Suste, offers you a surprising glimpse into its largely unknown history.
