The trail on the south side of the pass offers ideal training conditions due to its altitude. The circuit starts on the Spittelmatte, leads to the Barralhaus and climbs briefly up to the Alter Spittel. At around 1.8 km in length, the Simplon cross-country ski trail is ideal for beginners.
