Public transport and the mountain railways provide good connections so you can enjoy a fantastic biking experience.

Mobility & bike transport – travel the flexible way by train, Postbus and mountain railway

Brig and the surrounding regions have excellent public transport links. The SBB has all the information you need about travelling by train. No matter whether you’ve brought your mountain bike or an e-bike, you won’t have any issues transporting it from A to B.

Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn (MGB): it is possible to take bikes on Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn trains. On MGB routes, you can simply turn up with your bike, but you do need a ticket for it. You can find more information on the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn website.

Postbus: bicycles can also be transported on the Postbuses around Brig. Bike space reservations are mandatory: details on bike transport and reservations can be found on the Postbus website. You can easily reserve your bike space via the SBB app, the SBB online shop or at a railway counter. There is a cost of CHF 2.00 per reservation (in addition to the bike ticket or subscription). This fee is valid for an entire journey, for example from Bern to Simplon by train and Postbus.

Mountain railways: many mountain railways around Brig also offer bike transport. You can simply take your mountain bike or e-bike with you on the cable car or gondola so you can get to the best trails quickly. Pay attention to seasonal rules and opening hours.
