Snowshoe days on the Simplon with Baumeler Reisen

Snowshoeing on one of the most beautiful Alpine passes.
The Simplon is one of the most important pass crossings in the Alps and lies at 2005 m above sea level. It connects Switzerland from Brig in Valais to Domodossola in Italy. The pass, which is open all year round, is praised as one of the most beautiful Alpine crossings and offers breathtaking views.

Program:

Day 1: Arrival and beginners' tour

Individual arrival in Simplon village and meeting point at the hotel. We immediately start our first hike and climb up to Alp Bodma with a magnificent view of the Monte Leone massif. On the way, we will be given an introduction to the use of avalanche transceiver equipment. Hiking time: 2½ hours.

Day 2: Staldhorn

Today we make our way past Lake Hopschusee in the direction of the Staldhorn. During the summit rest we enjoy a fantastic view of the Aletsch Glacier area opposite. Hiking time: 4 ½ hours.

Day 3: Rothwald - Wasenalp

From Rothwald we reach Wasenalp via sparse forest. After a break in the beautifully situated mountain restaurant, the route leads over open slopes to Chastelegga. The descent through the highest larch forest in Europe offers fantastic views of the Rhone Valley. Hiking time: 4 hours.

Day 4: Spitzhorli

The ascent to Spitzhorli leads over wide slopes to the highest point of our week's tour at 2728m. Here we have a fantastic panorama of the Valais 4000m peaks with the majestic Monte Rosa in the center. hiking time: 4 ¾ hrs.

Day 5: Simplon Pass - Simplon village

We explore the wild and romantic terrain along the Chrummbach stream. On our way down to Simplon Dorf, we cross scattered Alpine settlements and picturesque winter landscapes. Then individual return journey or extension. Hiking time: 3 ½ hours.
