The Stockalperweg, also called ViaStockalper, is a mule track built more than 300 years ago by Kaspar Stockalper. Since 1991, it has been revived as a cultural hike.
In seven day stages from Brig to the Simplon Pass, to Gondo and to Domodossola in Italy.
During 7 days, you embark on the historic route over the Simplon Pass. You start in the lively old town of Brig, hike along the rushing mountain stream through the quiet Taferna valley, past the golden eagle on the Simplon Pass and stop off in the picturesque Simplon village. You climb over 100 natural steps to the Monscere Pass and enjoy the Italianità in the dreamy Bognanco Valley before arriving in Domodossola. All this and much more awaits you on your Brig - Domodossola hiking holiday.

Day 1: Arrival in BrigDay 2: Brig - Simplon Pass
Day 3: Simplon Pass - Simplon village
Day 4: Simplon village - Zwischbergen
Day 5: Zwischbergen - Bognanco
Day 6: Bognanco - Domodossola
Day 7: Domodossola

Tip: Start your hike in Brig on Sunday so you can wake up in Domodossola on Saturday morning and be the first to visit Domodossola's weekly market

Information and travel documents
We will send you some of the documents such as the hiking map, flyer and PostBus timetable in advance with the booking confirmation. You will receive the Stockalperkit with the vouchers for the hotels, a small souvenir and further information about the Stockalperweg at the hotel reception on the day of arrival.
The hike is at your own risk. Insurance is the responsibility of the hiker.
