Ganter Bridge

Bridge
The Ganter Bridge is part of the Simplon Pass road and leads in an S-bend over the Ganter Valley.
The bridge, about 10 km south of Brig, crosses the deep valley of the river Ganter at 1450 m above sea level in an S-bend and is an important part of the national road. It was designed by Christian Menn and is 678 metres long.
Due to the climatic conditions on the Simplon, the bridge could only be built for eight months of the year, so that the construction period stretched from late summer 1976 to December 1980.

The charm of the Ganter Bridge lies in the contrast of its angular shape to the nature of the mountains - many pull out their camera before crossing the bridge.
