The forest road leads past the Gamsen country wall over a bridge. The road climbs rather steeply up the slope. Through the coniferous forest, you can see the Brigerbad thermal baths on the right-hand side of the Rhone valley. After around 30-40 minutes, you will come to the access road from Eyholz. The road now turns left. After a few meters you will reach the wayside shrine.
Once you reach Rohrbärg, the view opens up to the east towards the Alpine town of Brig. The hike now takes you past the “Maria Hilfe der Christen” chapel. It was built in 1832 by the Jesuits of the Spiritus Sanctus College in Brig. Its onion domes are reminiscent of the three towers of Stockalper Castle.
Follow the path over the Rohrbärg and the signposts towards Perrigalpji. At Perrigalpji, the forest thins out and you can see Visp again. Back in the forest, the hiking trail leads you via Steinegga back to Rohrbärg. The way back to Gamsen is well known.
