Past the Gamsen town wall, the forest road crosses a bridge. The road ascends rather steeply, winding up the slope. Through the coniferous forest, you can see the thermal baths of Brigerbad on the right in the Rhone valley. After about 30-40 minutes, you reach the connecting path coming from Eyholz. The road now turns left. After a few meters, you reach the wayside shrine.
Upon arriving at Rohrbärg, the view opens eastward to the Alpine town of Brig. The hike then leads you past the chapel "Maria Hilfe der Christen" (Mary Help of Christians). It was built in 1832 by the Jesuits of the Spiritus Sanctus College in Brig. Its onion dome echoes the three towers of Stockalperschloss.
You follow the path over Rohrbärg and the signposts towards Perrigalpji. At Perrigalpji, the forest opens and you can again see towards Visp. Back in the forest, the hiking trail takes you via Steinegga back to Rohrbärg. The return route to Gamsen is familiar.
