With the gondola lift of the Rosswald railways you reach the Alpe Rosswald at 1800 m above sea level. Once at the top, a short ascent follows on Rosswaldstrasse. You follow the forest path, which leads you in a constant ascent to Alpe Schmidmatte. Then follows a rapid descent towards Gantertal, past alpine meadows and individual alpine huts.
Following the forest road you reach Schalbett. After the signpost on the Napoleonic road, turn right and follow the trail back to the starting point.
A second bike trail leads directly downhill from the mountain station. The trail Rosswald Bike.

Directions
Starting from the mountain station at Rosswald, ride your bike eastward to Alpe Schmidmatte (before Stafel). The first meters on the flat forest road serve as a warm-up. The trail branches off to the right from the road at Schmidmatte. The rapid descent via Eisten ends on the forest road in the Gantertal above the Simplon Pass road. Following the road, you reach Schallberg, where you turn left onto the trail. Now follows a section on an asphalted side road. You follow this road until the turnoff to the old Napoleonic road. A few meters after the wayside shrine, the trail branches off to the right. Follow the trail until you can see the valley station of the Rosswald railways.
