Directions
From the Bortelhütte, you descend a few meters at the beginning of the hike to the Furgguböimbach. The hiking trail then ascends through the forest until you reach a wide road at Heitrich. The path leads you to Wintrigmatta. Along the way, there are benches where you can rest and enjoy the view of the Rhone Valley.
For the lunch break, we recommend taking the detour to the left up to Wasmerseewji at Bäurfalla. There is a picnic table by the lake. Here you can also collect another point for your Simplon.app.
Refreshed, you hike back from Wasmerseewji to Bäurfalla and turn left onto the Alpenpässeweg. A final sweat-inducing ascent follows on a path lined with blueberry bushes. Soon the mountain station of the Rothwald ski lift appears in front of you. At over 2230 m above sea level, you have reached the highest point of your hike. At the ski lift, you can again collect a point for the Simplon.app. Then follows the descent through Chapfwald to Schallbett. You hike along the pass road galleries to the pass summit on the Simplon.
Equipment
Weather-appropriate equipment is essential. Good, sturdy hiking boots are strongly recommended for all hikes.
