Shortly after leaving Brig, we pass through the old village center of Glis with the magnificent Glis Pilgrimage Church. The path becomes narrower and soon we reach the cultural landscape of Waldmatten. Our view drifts from the village of Gamsen across to the Landmauer from the 14th century. Before reaching the Landmauer on the signposted cultural path, the nature trail in Gamsen shows us the significance of traditional management elements for the local animal and plant life. Information boards and historical explanations illustrate the importance of the imposing defensive wall.
