The route starts at the Simplon Pass and in an initial ascent leads up to the Gälmji. This is followed by a long descent via the Nesseltal to the Bärgeri channel and finally to Glis.

The Simplon Pass connects Valais with Italy. The start of the route is at the Simplon Pass. You hike via Hopsche to the Gälmji, between the Stald and the Tochuhorn. This is the only ascent during this route. The view from the Gälmji towards the Aletsch area, the Brigerberg and Brig invites you to take a short break. The demanding route continues downhill into the upper Nesseltal and to the lower Nesseltal. In the lower Nesseltal, the "Bärgeri" channel begins. The path runs along the Bärgeri up to the Wurzukapälli. From here the descent continues towards the valley into the Wickert and to the Holzji. In Holzji there is a local bus stop. You can then take the bus to Brig train station.

This route is very demanding due to the long descents. From the Gälmji to Glis, you cover about 1,600 meters of altitude difference.
