Ascent
Simplon Pass – Ascend from Simplon Kulm to the Breithorn Pass. The pass can also be reached from Egga or from the Monte Leone hut. From the Breithorn Pass, keep to the Alpjergletscher glacier in the direction of the rock spur. Stay at the same altitude and continue towards the south ridge until you reach the base of a small couloir near two rock towers. Leave your skis here and ascend on foot to the ridge, then in 30 minutes over easy rocks on the south ridge to the summit. The summit can also be reached a bit more exposed on foot via the west ridge. Beware of possible cornices.
Descent
Simplon Pass – Return to the ski deposit and from there enjoy about 3 km of descent. Above the crevasse zone, first head west, then southwest along the rock wall down to approximately 2,620 m.
Descents to Unners Schallbett on the Simplon road (1,933 m), to Egga (1,588 m), or to the Monte Leone hut are also possible.
Depending on risk assessment, these descent routes may vary.
