Ascent
Simplon Pass – Starting at Simplon Pass at 2,005 m, head west, passing the plains near the hamlet of Hopsche into the traverse on the southern slope of the Tochuhorn. Later turn northwest and continue ascending zigzagging in the valley between Tochuhorn and Straffelgrat. From the broad east ridge, it goes steeply and on foot to the summit.
Descent
Simplon Pass – Descent follows the ascent track. Depending on hazard assessment, this may vary.
Bielti / Simplon Pass – Under good and very safe conditions, instead of the traverse under the Tochuhorn, a descent down to Bielti is possible. This requires a final ascent back to Simplon Pass of about 30 minutes.

The wind often blows the snow away. The summit ascent from the ski depot involves somewhat exposed block climbing and summit cornices are often encountered.
