- Destination: Bahnhof Reckingen
From Reckingen, the route leads along a good road with a pleasant, constant gradient up to point 1789, where the trail follows the Gommer Höhenweg. If you need a refreshment after the 550 metres in altitude, we recommend a detour to the cosy Guferschmatte mountain bistro. The route continues along flowing, varied hiking trails, past the Glürigerstafel (1808) to the junction at point 1622 in the Bawald forest. This is followed by a steep downhill on hiking trails through the village of Gluringen before crossing the main road and passing Gluringen railway station to get to the other side of the Rotten. The flat hiking and cycling trail along the Rotten leads back to Reckingen, the starting point of the tour.

Safety guidelines
Carry a hiking map with you or download the complete description of the tour with a large-scale map. During your tour, we recommend that you only use marked paths and roads. Follow all signposts and instructions - for your own safety, to protect the landscape and to respect wildlife. Behave considerately towards other trail users. Take your rubbish and other people's rubbish with you.
Weather conditions in the mountains can change very quickly and without warning. Appropriate clothing and sufficient provisions (food and drink) are very important. If the weather is unstable, it is better to turn back early.
Carry additional sun protection. UV rays at high altitudes can be very strong, even when the sky is overcast.
Plan your tour carefully and in detail. Find out about the current conditions and weather beforehand. The summer report will provide you with valuable information from the region.
