On the Wednesday before "feiste Donnschtag", the carnival is officially opened in Glis. Representatives of the municipality of Brig-Glis, the board and members of the Bäjizunft, friendly guilds, Guggenmusik bands and the "green Bäjini" parade from Rest. Gliserallee to the Glis village square. The "green Bäjini" are hidden under a white cloth and are led by their Getti or Gotta.
The official handover of office from the Brig-Glis municipality to the Bäjizunft takes place accompanied by the musical sounds of the Guggenmusiken. The Bäjizunft now reigns over Glis until Ash Wednesday. After the speeches by the Grand Vezier and the Prince Count Jozzelin, the "green Bäjini" are presented by the guild's weibel. They now receive their green Bäjizipfel caps and must prove their good will and commitment to the Gligga and the guild from now until the AGM in autumn.
After the fireworks, the various Guggenmusik bands play on stage.
