The infantry fortress in the Gondo Gorge played a key role in defending the borders during the Second World War. You can visit the fortifications on a guided tour.
Today, the Stockalperweg leads through the 350-meter-long connecting tunnel. You can admire the rooms in the bunker with the cannon, soldiers' room, troop accommodation, central gallery, officers' room and kitchen on a tour with one of our knowledgeable guides. In the soldiers' quarters, plans, photos, models and objects are used to explain the fortress museum and the history of the military presence on the Simplon.
Did you know that the Simplon Adler was built from the stones that were removed when the fort was blown up? Our guides will tell you more exciting stories about the occupation of the Simplon border.
Meeting point: north entrance to the fortress
Language: German
Date and time: once a month, tour starts at 2.00 pm

Directions & Parking facilities
Free parking is available at the north entrance, but it is somewhat narrow.
If you arrive by post bus, the post bus stops are to the north and south of Fort Gondo. You walk about 40 to 60 minutes to the fort in either option. We recommend combining the visit with a hike on the Stockalperweg.
