The chapel on the pine-covered hilltop was built in 1707 by the burghers of Ried-Brig.
The entrance façade is dominated by a portico consisting of three arcades. The chapel was a popular place of pilgrimage and had a rich interior. In the spirit of purification, many pictures and the exvotos were no longer hung in the chapel after the chapel renovation in 1955. Of the former Way of the Cross, which began at the Chapel of the Holy Spirit in the Schlüocht, only seven wayside shrines remain.
