Castle courtyard

Originally, the courtyard was intended as a transhipment point for goods stored in the corridors under the arcades. Only the outer walls date from the 17th century. The arcades were removed in the 1950s during the restoration of the castle and then rebuilt. Great Stockalper named the three towers after the three kings Kaspar, Melchior and Balthasar. The sun adorning the main tower was golden at the time, as a sign of his wealth.

Today, the castle courtyard is open to all and can be visited free of charge.
