St. Ursula Monastery

You will find the St. Ursula Monastery, steeped in history, in the old town of Brig.
In 1799, during the turmoil of the French Revolution, the sisters were forced to leave their convent. They flee to the mountains: to the Simplon Pass and partly to Italy. 1800 Reunification of the community and rebuilding of their work in 1848.
After the end of the Sonderbund War, difficulties again: Secularization of the estates, number of sisters is limited. 1853 The State of Valais again entrusts the sisters with the training of primary school teachers.

Public transport: The bus stop "Brig, Bachji" is in the immediate vicinity. From Brig train station you can reach the St. Ursula monastery in around 12 minutes.

Directions: By car, you can park in the public parking lots at Alte Simplonstrasse 55 right next to St. Ursula Monastery.
