This adventurous high tour leads from Berisal to the Bortel huts, past Lake Bortel and on to the start of the climbing passage in front of Bortellicka. Once at the top, the fantastic view towards Alpe Veglia awaits.

The tour starts in the hamlet of Berisal directly on the Simplon Pass road. The hiking trail first leads along an overgrown forest road and later along a mountain hiking trail to the Bortel huts, where you can stop for refreshments. Following the mountain hiking trail, the path leads along the Bortelsee lake before the last 100 meters in altitude are conquered on alpine paths - with the help of chains and iron stirrups. After the climbing section on the Bortellicke, the trail descends towards Alpe Veglia. Past alpine meadows with animals and through forests, you reach the Alpe Veglia plateau and the Rifugio Città di Arona. Enjoy the Italian sun, typical products and the idyllic setting before setting off on your journey home.
