From Riederalp West, hike up to Riederfurka, the starting point and destination of the Casselweg theme trail at Villa Cassel. The circular hiking trail leads you around the Riederhorn in about an hour. Only a few ascents need to be overcome, but some sections of the path are somewhat exposed. From mid-June to mid-October, you will repeatedly come across information panels along the way that provide interesting insights into the life of Sir Ernest Cassel and his noble guests. At the beginning of the 20th century, the imposing Villa Cassel on Riederfurka was the fashionable summer residence of the English banker and his exclusive guests from nobility and high finance. The Casselweg theme trail offers insights into their lives and tells anecdotes from the time when members of the English upper class spent their summer holidays on Riederfurka. The descent back to Riederalp West is the last stage of this hike.
