The start of the route is below Simplon village in Gabi. After crossing the Laggina stream, the ascent begins on the Stockalperweg (600 meters altitude difference) over the Feerbärg, past the small, unique chapel and grazing cattle herds to the Furggu mountain pass. The closer you get to Furggu, the more exciting the view becomes.
At the wooden slat, the path turns right and climbs approximately 200 meters further. Below the Guggilihorn, the path continues until the view opens towards the Laggintal valley with views of waterfalls and mountain peaks with glaciers.
The idyllic lake invites a short rest before the descent into the valley floor follows. After crossing the stream, the path runs back along the forest road to Gabi. Alternatively, the branch toward Simplon village can be chosen.

For all hikes:
Carry a map with you. Download the complete description of the hiking trail with a large-scale map by clicking "Print" at the top right of the page.
Use only marked hiking trails and observe all signposts and instructions - for your own safety, to protect grazing animals, and out of respect for wildlife.
Close gates after passing through.
Behave considerately towards other trail users, plants, and animals. Â
For mountain hikes:Â
Carry additional sunscreen. UV rays at high altitudes can be very strong, even in overcast weather.
Plan your hike carefully: consider the fitness level required by all participants, weather forecasts, and seasonal dependencies.
Weather conditions in the mountains can change very quickly and without warning. Appropriate clothing and sufficient provisions (food and drink) are very important. In unstable weather, it is better to turn back early.Â
For high alpine hikes:
Inform your family about your hiking route. If possible, avoid going alone.
Do not venture onto glaciers without a mountain guide.
Observe warning signs indicating dangers at riverbanks, along waterways below dams and reservoirs: water levels can rise quickly and without warning.
