Beautiful hike from Oberwald over the Alp Lenges to the Furka Pass.

The beautiful hike to the Furka Pass starts in Oberwald. Passing the mountain village of Gere, which was once independent and even had its own jurisdiction, you finally reach the alp Lenges, where Oberwald's cattle summer. From the long ridge Bidmer you enjoy a magnificent mountain panorama with the Rhone Glacier and its extensive valley. The path then leads you leisurely through the galleries of the Hirschplatten to the Furka Pass.

IMPORTANT: The bridge Muttbach (military road Furkapass direction Tälligrat) can no longer be set due to climate change (foundations of the bridge are shifting). On site, however, you will find a small diversions signalled with cairns - so crossing the stream is possible.

Directions & Parking facilities

From Brig follow cantonal road No 19 (Furkastrasse) for 40 km to Oberwald.

The Goms valley is also easily accessible from direction Zurich / Lucerne via Andermatt – car transport Furka www.matterhorngotthardbahn.ch.

Public parking spaces are available in the vicinity of the railway station or in the village of Oberwald. Follow the local parking guidance system.
The regional trains of the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway take you from Brig to Oberwald in 1h 23 min. The Goms valley is also easily accessible from the Zurich / Lucerne via Andermatt and the Furka base tunnel.
