The summit ridge is almost horizontal over a length of 150 meters. On the summit you first encounter a cross and at the highest point a pole.
Ascent
Simplon Pass – From the Simplon Pass, head towards Chaltwassertäli. From the Monte Leone hut (2,848 m) follow a prominent plateau westwards towards the Mäderhorn to the Mäder notch. At the same elevation, cross northeast below the Mäderhorn the Wasen notch. Ski depot at the foot of the first ridge incline. Follow the west ridge now via beautiful and easy block climbing to the summit of the Wasenhorn / Punta Terrarossa.
Descent
Simplon Pass – The descent follows the ascent route. Depending on the assessment of hazards, this can also vary.

Safety guidelines
Safe skiing, alpine, fairly difficult route. Only passable in very secure conditions.
Block ridge, possibly ice axe and rope, good grip. The easy climbing over the west block ridge takes about 1.5 hours.
