The fourth stage of the Stockalperweg leads from Gondo-Zwischbergen to the Bognanco region (Italy).
A signposted hiking trail leads from Gondo up to the Monscerapass. During the summer months, you can shorten the hike by about 5 km / 2 hours by taking the call bus from Gondo to Zwischbergen, Bord. ATTENTION: Order your ride at least two hours before departure and by 5:00 p.m. in the evening.
The hiking trail from Zwischbergen leads steeply uphill to the pass. After the Monscerapass, the paths are mostly good but rather sparsely signposted. The trail leads south from the Monscerapass to Rifugio Gattascosa, further to Lago Ragozza and over San Bernardo, Gomba to the scattered village of Bognanco. We recommend ending the day's stage here.

Directions
The Zwischbergental, Valle Vaira in Italian, begins with a beautiful view of the Great Waterfall and the glacier basins. The hiking trail leads steeply up into the Zwischbergental from the border village of Gondo. After the Sera reservoir, the Great Water is crossed by a wooden bridge and the trail ascends toward the border. Over many natural steps through large fields with blooming alpine roses, the Monscerapass and thus the Italian border are reached.
At the fork on the pass, keep right and hike around the lake towards Rifugio Gattascosa. Through forests and over pastures, the hamlet of San Bernardo is reached; after the church, the path descends right towards Bognanco. This is followed by a descent through the scattered village of Bognanco to the hamlets of Graniga, San Lorenzo, or Bognanco Fonti.
