Cross-country skiing

Out and about on the Simplon cross-country ski trail

When cross-country skiing on the Simplon Pass, you’ll find yourself in a snowy wonderland. The trail has two lanes – one groomed for classic-style skiing and one for skate skiing. The historic pass is also open in winter and is an ideal recreation area. At almost 2,000 m above sea level, the cross-country ski trail offers a welcome change for a few laps.

Cross-country ski trail on the Simplon Pass

Located on the south side of the pass, the trail offers ideal training conditions due to its altitude. The circular route starts on the Spittelmatte trail, leads to the Barralhaus landmark and ascends briefly to the Alter Spittel tower. With a length of around 1.8 km, the Simplon cross-country ski trail is ideally suited for beginners. Work on your endurance and see whether you have improved lap by lap.
