- Start: Almagellerhütte SAC
- Destination: Bord, Zwischbergen
The day route starts at the Allmagellerhütte, where overnight accommodation is available. After about a 45-minute ascent (about 400 meters elevation gain), the signpost at the Zwischbergenpass is reached. After a short scramble over large boulders, the highlight of the route, the Zwischbergenpass, is reached. This is followed by a steep and somewhat strenuous first descent over loose scree and rocks to the snowfield. The choice of the further descent route should ideally be based on the current snow conditions and tracks. The official route leads relatively close to the rock on the left downhill to the glacier moraine and the brook. After crossing the brook, the path becomes increasingly green along the trail. Rocks and scree give way to green meadows and alpine flowers. At "Zibelenflue," the last demanding spot awaits, which is overcome secured by handrails. With a view of the Fa reservoir, the route continues downhill past the hut in Galki towards Gmeinalp. Numerous ruins from past times are evidence in the Gmeinalp. The path leads rather flat along the streambed to the Cheller and the Fa reservoir. After a short, wide passage on a private road, the path turns right and continues downhill through the forest. Along the "Large Water," the path shortly before the goal turns left towards Zwischbergen, Bord.
This hike is very demanding in terms of fitness. The last ascent over large stones to the Zwischbergenpass and the descent over loose scree and snowfield down to the Zibelenflue has alpine character and must not be underestimated. Due to the natural conditions (snowfield, scree), the path is not always clearly visible, and visible markings are placed in many places. Good preparation and equipment are absolutely mandatory for this route.
Note
From Zwischbergen, Bord, a dial-a-bus runs in the summer months. Reservation is required up to 2 hours before departure or in the evening until 5:00 p.m.
