The Blinnenhorn is enthroned at the very back of the Blinnen valley, which leads from Reckingen to the south. The closer surroundings of the mountain impress with their magnificent glaciation. Around the large cold mountain there are several isolated side valleys, such as the Blinnental, the Vallone di Nefelgiù or the Rappental, as well as the populated valleys - the Goms, the Binntal and on the Italian side the Pomatt (Val Formazza).
Worth seeing are the still largely intact mountain villages. The two old trade routes over the Griespass and the Albrunpass connect the Goms with the Italian Pomatt and the Veglia-Devero Nature Park. Today the mountain valleys have to struggle with emigration, a fate that is not new. Already in the 12th and 13th centuries, the Goms was one of the starting points for the emigration of the Walser.
The numerous lakes, the alpine pastures with their diverse flora and the different rock formations make up the charm of the magnificent mountain landscape: the Bättelmatt floodplain landscape, the Oxefeld, a moorland landscape of national importance, the deep blue reservoirs Lago Vannino, Lago di Morasco and Lago di Sabbione as well as the rocks in the most varied colours and shapes.

Safety guidelines
Take a map with you or download the complete description of the route with a large-scale map. Use only signposted paths and observe all markings and signs - for your own safety, for the protection of the landscape and in respect for wildlife. Be considerate of other users. Take your rubbish and that of others with you.
Weather conditions in the mountains can change very quickly and without warning. Adequate clothing and provisions (food and drink) are very important. If the weather is unstable, it is better to turn around early. Carry additional sun protection with you. UV rays at high altitudes can be very strong, even when the sky is overcast.
Plan your tour carefully and in detail. Inform yourself in advance about the current conditions and weather conditions. The summer sports report www.goms.ch/en/summer-sports-report provides you with valuable information from the region.
