The Stockalperweg (ViaStockalper), a mule track built more than 300 years ago by Kaspar Stockalper, has been revived in recent years as a cultural hiking trail. It is also suitable for trail running.

The first stage leads from Brig to Simplon village.

The trail running experience begins in Brig. The first stage covers around 1,800 meters of elevation gain. The trail leads from Brig via Holzji to the Nanztal valley. On the left side of the Nanztal valley, the trail leads almost to the end of the valley. The highest point is reached at the Sirwoltesattel, and the descent to Simplon Dorf begins. From Engeloch, you run on the Stockalperweg trail.

Equipment suitable for the weather conditions is essential. Good running shoes are recommended for all trail running routes.

Directions & Parking facilities

Easily accessible by private vehicle.
There are several parking garages in Brig.
You can travel comfortably by train (SBB) to Brig, main station.
