Directions

Passing Briga's Stockalper Castle, the trail leads along the so-called “Römerweg” through open meadows via the hamlet of Brei to the ‘Chräjubielwald’ forest. The steep climb to “Chalchofe” is overcome in two hairpin bends. The hillside path to Schallberg was built by Stockalper in 1667 and offers a view of the impressive Saltina Gorge. After descending to the floodplain landscape in “Grund,” the trail follows the Tafernabach stream over five wooden footbridges to the former Taferna inn. Along artfully laid out switchbacks, you will overcome the last steep section to the pass summit.
