The new exhibition on the history of the Simplon Pass is certainly one of the main attractions of your visit to the Stockalper Palace. On over 2100 square feet the eventful history of this alpine crossing is examined from various historical perspectives. Learn about the construction of the transportation infrastructure foremost the Simplon tunnel itself, the first crossing of the Simplon Pass by air from Brig to Domodossola as well as the invention of a new pavement method by a physician and adventurer from Brig. One room of the exhibit is dedicated to one of the most fascinating figures in the history of the Valais: Kaspar von Stockalper himself. His rise to a key player in European mercantile ventures and his fall and exile to Italy will be examined.

The exhibition “passage Simplon” can be visited at the offical opening hours from the Palace from May to October. Free entrance.
