Stockalper had galleries of several hundred metres hewn out of the rock. During the gold rush from 1894 to 1897, more than 500 workers in Gondo fell prey to the fever.
The exhibition in the Stockalper Tower in Gondo - rebuilt and renovated after the storm in 2000 - shows contemporary and current photos, documents and plans of the mine as well as rock samples.
The exhibition is made particularly attractive by various models of industrial smelting technology. A follow-up programme with gold panning and a guided tour of the gold mines is possible.
