The town of Brig is located in the sunny Valais at the foot of the Simplon Pass. At the junction of international transport routes, Brig is the ideal starting point for excursions. Hiking areas on the Lötschberg, Simplon Pass and in the Aletsch region, nearby ski resorts and thermal spas make the town an attractive holiday destination.

    Alpine town
     

    Brig-Glis was awarded the title of ‘Alpine Town of the Year’ by an international jury in 2008. Every year, this award goes to a town that is particularly committed to implementing the Alpine Convention (treaty for the better protection and sustainable development of the Alpine region).

    Brig-Glis received the award in particular for its cooperation and sustainability efforts, through which it aims to offer the population a high quality of life and make the region highly attractive to visitors.
