The town of Brig is located in the sunny Valais at the foot of the Simplon Pass. At the junction of international transport routes, Brig is the ideal starting point for excursions. Hiking areas on the Lötschberg, Simplon Pass and in the Aletsch region, nearby ski resorts and thermal spas make the town an attractive holiday destination.

Attractions

The Perrig House was built in 1905 by Elias Perrig in the historicist style on the Briger Stadtplatz.

Kaspar Stockalper had the Stockalper Palace built in Brig between 1651 and 1671.

On Geissplatzji, next to the town square, there is a stone fountain with a goat.

In front of the Sebastian Chapel is the Chavez Fountain.

This Catholic chapel of St. Anthony Eremita in the upper burgh may have been founded together with the Antoniusspital in 1304.

The Simplonhalle is ideally suited for your big event.

The Goudron monument at the Saltina bridge commemorates the most useful inventor of our region.

Hiking

Brig is the ideal starting point for hiking adventures in the Valais. If you’re looking for a hike with panoramic views, Rosswald is for you. If you prefer a leisurely Sunday stroll, you’ll love the Stockalperweg trail from the Simplon Pass to the village of Simplon. You can find plenty more ideas and routes here.

Brig has been one of the Alpine towns since 2008. On the hike we discover sights worth seeing from Brig and experience ideas that are planned for the local recreation area in Grindji.

Alpine town

Brig-Glis was awarded the title of ‘Alpine Town of the Year’ by an international jury in 2008. Every year, this award goes to a town that is particularly committed to implementing the Alpine Convention (treaty for the better protection and sustainable development of the Alpine region).

Brig-Glis received the award in particular for its cooperation and sustainability efforts, through which it aims to offer the population a high quality of life and make the region highly attractive to visitors.
