Ski tour on the Galehorn (2797 m above sea level)

  • start: Simplon, Engeloch
  • destination: Galehorn

Ascent

Engeloch - From Engeloch you drive west over the Chrummbachbrücke near Chluismatta and climb over the Alpstafel and the following slope on the left bank of the Ritzibach up over the Wysse Bode (2,113 m). The steep slope at the end of the ground is overcome to the east (left) of the waterfall via the ramp. Above the rock ledge you cross the Ritzibach and climb in a small hollow towards the Sirwoltesattel (2,621 m). To the summit, continue to the right to the north.

Simplon Pass - The Galehorn can also be easily reached from the Simplon Pass via Hopsche on the Spitzhorli route. Leave the route at 2,180 m and cross the slope and valley of the Bistine Pass under the Straffel ridge. At the foot of the northern flank of the Galehorn, continue to Magelicke.

Descent

Engeloch - The descent is via the ascent track. Depending on the assessment of the dangers, this can also vary. In good and safe conditions, a classy and steep descent through the Ritzitälli is ideal.

Simplon Pass - The descent is via the ascent track. Depending on the assessment of the dangers, this can also vary. If the conditions are good and very safe, the descent down to the Bielti is ideal.

Egga - return to the Sirwoltesee like ascent. Then there is a 1 - 1½ hour ascent to the saddle to the right of the Wyssbodehorn at around 2,600 m. This effort is rewarded with a long, beautiful descent down to 1,500 m. From the saddle in front of the Wyssbodehorn drive through the hollow until the cliff face of the Schildhorn opens up the passage to Rossbodenalp. From here you go right over Furghalta and Stosbodu racy to the alpine huts on the Rossbodestafel.
