The hike starts on the Simplon Pass and leads in a first ascent to Gälmji. This is followed by a long descent via Nesseltal to Suone Bärgeri and finally to Glis.

The Simplon Pass connects Valais with Italy. The tour starts on the Simplon Pass. You hike via Hopsche to Gälmji, between the Stald- and Tochuhorn. This is the only ascent on this tour. The view from Gälmji towards the Aletsch region, the Brigerberg and Brig invites you to take a short breather. The challenging hike continues down into the Upper Nesseltal and into the Lower Nesseltal. The “Bärgeri” bisse begins in the Lower Nesseltal. The trail runs along the Bärgeri to Wurzukapälli. From here, the descent continues in the direction of the valley to Wickert and Holzji. There is a local bus stop at Holzji. You can then take the bus to Brig railroad station.

This tour is very demanding due to the long descents. From Gälmji to Glis you cover an altitude difference of approx. 1,600 meters.
