The infantry fortress in the Gondo Gorge was of central importance for the defence of the borders during the Second World War. You can visit the fortress on a guided tour.
The Stockalperweg leads through the 350-metre-long connecting tunnel today. You can admire the rooms in the bunker with the gun, the soldiers' room, the troop accommodation, the central gallery, the officers' room and the kitchen on a tour with one of our knowledgeable guides. In the soldier's quarters, plans, photos, models and objects will explain the fortress museum and the history of the military presence on the Simplon.
