Goudron Monument

Monument
The Goudron monument at the Saltina bridge commemorates the most useful inventor of our region.
Ernest Guglielminetti (1862-1943), a native of Brig, was a doctor, an alpinist, a diplomat and an inventor.
The resourceful researcher became famous above all for his invention made in France, the tarring of roads. His method of "dust removal" led Guglielminetti through the largest cities in Europe and earned him not only fame but also the name "Dr. Goudron", which means Dr. Tar. The monument and the Guglielminetti Square near the Saltina Bridge in Brig commemorate the probably most useful inventor of our region.
