The Metziltenturm is part of the convent complex. Today, the five-storey solid construction forms the oldest part of the convent building of the St. Ursula convent founded by Stockalper. The house was built in 1526 by governor Kaspar Metzilten. Peter Metzilten, an impoverished descendant of the governor, was forced to sell the tower to Kaspar von Stockalper in 1673, who donated it to the Ursulines along with the accompanying orchard. Stockalper had made the Metziltenturm available to the first four Ursuline nuns in Brig.
When the convent became economically stronger in the first half of the 18th century, a three-storey wing was added to the convent building in the 1920s.
In the 1990s, under the direction of architect Adalbert Grand and with the help of the monument protection authorities, a major restoration was carried out and the building was restored as far as possible to the accurate condition it was in when the monastery was founded in 1661.
